With the Fall/Winter 2017 fashion season well and truly underway, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishments (DFRE), an agency of Dubai Tourism, has curated the hottest fashion trends of the season from leading fashion influencers across Dubai.

With input from leading stylists, fashion industry buyers and influencers in the region, the Dubai F/W17 Trends Report reveals that this season is all about the three P’s – Playfulness, Pattern and Pretty. Feedback has been unanimous that pattern will be a key narrative running across all F/W17 collections, whilst designers will also experiment with playfulness to create fresh, fun and frivolous fashion.

Firras Al Wahabi, CEO of Faux Consultancy, a leading agency specialising in emerging designers and concepts, comments that the playfulness of disco will be prevalent this season, adding that “metallic, sequins and dancing shoes will be hot, hot, hot!”

Key also for this season is the ‘cool factor’. Ramzi Nakad, Co-Founder of Dubai’s high profile fashion event, Fashion Forward muses: “It’s refreshing to see that sense of reality applied to clothing in a fresh, modern and desirable way – for women and men alike – that is not stuffy or formal, but reflecting a certain “coolitude” that has not been present or considered before.”

Saeed Al Falasi, Executive Director, Retail and Strategic Alliances, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of Dubai Tourism, said: “Curating the Dubai F/W17 Trends Report has given us a real insight into the style scene in Dubai, revealing the hottest looks that Dubai residents will be snapping up this fall. With a multitude of leading global fashion brands available at malls across the city, fashionistas will be able to update their wardrobes with looks straight from the catwalk.”

Leading stylists, fashion industry buyers and influencers in the region highlight the trends in this season’s style stakes below.

COOL CORPORATE WEAR. This season, designers are reflecting the practicality and actual lives of their consumers – who are multi-tasking working women and men, managing high powered jobs, families and relationships. It’s refreshing to see that sense of reality applied to clothing in a fresh, modern and desirable way – for women and men alike – that is not stuffy or formal, but reflecting a certain “coolitude” that has not been present or considered before. The new twist on corporate wear gets me excited to get dressed up for the office!”

Raza Beig, CEO – Splash and Iconic

Art has a big influence on fashion. I think anything decorative, especially outwear, is a key fashion trend that we are seeing a lot of this season.

More fun, playful and colourful clothes. The world isn’t in a good place right now and fashion designers have taken it upon themselves to lighten up the mood and bring life to people’s lives through their wardrobes. Be it quirky prints, bold colours or mismatched patterns, fashion is reminding everyone to have a little fun.”

Definitely the Sock Boots, with Balenciaga being my current favourite! The Gucci belt bags come in a close second.”

Zayan Ghandour, Co-Founder, Creative Director and Head Buyer at sauce and Founder and Designer of Zayan the Label

“One of the key trends from the F/W17 runways was the comeback of plaid. It’s a beautiful and versatile print that can be interpreted in many ways, from fitted coats to evening gowns! For Zayan the Label AW17 we embroidered the fabric with signature pretty florals and added organza bow accents to keep it playful and fun.

RED….. anything in Red will bring your wardrobe bang up to date. In addition, metallic and fur are key and can be added to anything and block colour dresses are also going to be huge for fall.

My favourite trend of the season is definitely Disco! 70’s inspired silhouettes in sequins ruled the AW17 runway – think metallics and dancing boots!”

Salama Khalfan, Founder and Creative Director – Alezan by SK

“For me the F/W 2017 season is all about “More is MORE”. Big earrings to dramatically frame the face, layering jewellery and accessories, mixing old and new and making bold statements with jewellery, contrasted with the choice of simple clothing and defined silhouettes.”

So fashionistas what are you waiting for – there’s been no better time to take inspiration from the trends and hit the shops to get your hands on the season’s hottest Fall/Winter 2017 collections.
