The Armed Forces Officers Club & Hotel (AFOCH), Abu Dhabi’s leading recreation, hospitality and dining destination, is welcoming women to join them in the fight against breast cancer by taking part in a ‘Zumbathon’ at the hotel on Saturday 28th October, 2017. The charity event has been organised to support the Pinktober campaign, which over the past 16 years has raised millions of dollars globally for breast cancer awareness and research.
The Zumbathon will take place from 4 to 6 pm, at the Al Maqta Sports Hall in AFOCH’s Recreation Centre. Women will gather for a two-hour energetic aerobic fitness programme inspired by various styles of dance focusing on toning the body. Admission to the Zumbathon class is AED 50 and proceedings will be donated to the Pinktober Campaign.
Tina Pavlova, Recreation Director at AFOCH, commented: “We are delighted to be raising funds for breast cancer research and awareness by organising this special event for women. This event is part of our ongoing CSR efforts and we hope that community members will join us at the ‘Zumbathon’ to support this important cause.”
A lecture on breast cancer, the importance of annual mammograms and self-check-ups will be hosted by a doctor from Mediclinic at the Al Maqta Sports Hall from 3 to 4 pm, prior to the Zumbathon. Educational materials including gifts from Technogym, Mediclinic and AFOCH will be distributed to attendees.
AFOCH is dedicated to supporting charitable causes, the Zumbathon is part of an initiative by the hotel to further CSR efforts and proactively participate in the UAE’s Year of Giving 2017.
