NEW YORK, NY, MAY 7, 2018 – Actresses Selena Gomez and Letitia Wright wore custom Coach to the 2018 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City Monday evening. Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers drew inspiration from Coach’s Fall 2018 collection for the designs of each gown, playing with unexpected juxtapositions and personalization to create a toughness mixed with a dark, romantic femininity.
Ms. Gomez’s opera length slip gown was made from vintage cream silk gauze. Accented by handsewn lace incrustations and detailed with hand pleated frills with metal studs, the gown features crystal embellishments reminiscent of motifs found in the Coach Fall 2018 runway collection.
Ms. Gomez’s gown was accentuated by Coach gunmetal heels and a cream Kisslock Frame bag. The archival-inspired handbag design featured gunmetal detailing, crystal embellishments and a Tea Rose turnlock. The look was finished with a personal touch from Ms. Gomez, a quote in her handwriting is embossed on the side of the bag as well as on a ribbon on her gown.
Ms. Wright’s gown was crafted from antique gold bandana printed lamé. Intricately detailed, the gown featured hand beaded pleats and velvet ribbon accents. Ethiopian-inspired embellishments are seen throughout and highlighted on the long sheer sleeves and high neckline. A spiritual quote chosen by Ms. Wright is embroidered on a velvet ribbon on the back of the gown.
Ms. Wright’s gown was complimented by Tea Rose rivet sandals and a new version of the Dinky bag. Inspired by the iconic Coach silhouette, the black glovetanned leather handbag features an embellished Tea Rose turnlock.
