Dubai, December 2018: Applications are now open for volunteers to join the team of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. Recognised as one of the leading literary festivals in the world, the event will be held at the InterContinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City from 1-9 March 2019.

More than 300 volunteers take part in this annual event, assisting with all aspects of the running of the Festival. Volunteers will help with the author signings, information desks, box office, room and area management, social media and photography, as well as other tasks.

“The volunteers are a crucial part of the Festival; it simply couldn’t happen without them”, said Ahlam Bolooki, Festival Director. “We get many volunteers returning year after year because they love the buzz and the excitement of the event. There is a real team spirit. We welcome volunteers of any age; and we have seen an even split between life-long literature buffs wanting to make a difference, and enthusiastic youth who want to gain experience with a fast-paced, award-winning international event.”

Highlights of this year’s Festival will include Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland; Jane Hawking, whose best-selling memoir about her marriage with genius Stephen Hawking was turned into the film The Theory of Everything; IPAF winner Saud Alsanousi; Diary of a Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney; novelist and artist Douglas Coupland, who defined Generation X; Cassandra Clare, author of the Mortal Instruments books, made into a motion picture as well as a popular Netflix series; master of crime fiction Ian Rankin, and many more.
