Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 30 December 2018: Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of Dubai Tourism, is unveiling a cutting-edge artistic installation to mark the 24th edition of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) at the stroke of midnight this New Year’s Eve.
Inspired by the vision and prestigious novel, “Reflections on Happiness and Positivity” by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the artistic installation “Reflections of Dubai” is an interactive centrepiece that will light up Dubai while interacting with people within the urban community of Meraas’ City Walk 2.
The innovative installation, compromising of a 3-metre, mirror clad cuboid, works as a projector using 3D mapping technology, with the cube’s mirrors coming ‘alive’ with material via the concealed LED monitors, installed behind the mirrors. The state-of-the-art light and laser system will display fascinating edutainment material onto the surrounding area, captivating observers with the mind-blowing projection display.
The lighting work of art, bridging the gap between humanity and technology through interactivity will be unveiled on 31 December in line with the city’s New Year’s Eve countdown. Reflections of Dubai will remain on display until 2 February 2019 for visitors and residents to enjoy and reflect on the happiness and positivity the UAE has to offer, and the greatness of the thriving nation.
