CURRENT EXHIBITION
Roads of Arabia: Archaeological Treasures of Saudi Arabia
Roads of Arabia explores the rich history of the Arabian Peninsula through archaeological and cultural artefacts, including a selection of rare pieces from the United Arab Emirates.
The exhibition is currently on show until 16 February 2019.
Admissions is included as part of the museum general admission ticket. Tickets can be purchased online at louvreabudhabi.ae, or by calling +971 600 56 55 66, or at the museum ticketing desk.

Drop-In Family Workshop – Birth of Writing
Children and Families (45-minute activity)
Discover the origins of writing by exploring the writing systems inside the exhibition and use clay to create your own script.

Explore the Roads of Arabia Exhibition with a Mediator and our specially designed activity booklet.
Mini Interactive Tours
Children and Families (30 minutes)
Travel back in time to hear about the people who used the roads of Arabia to trade with different countries.
Drop in Drawing Session
Children and Families (45 minutes)
Experience the Roads of Arabia through drawing and responding to creative challenges inside the exhibition.
Al Ayyla Discovery Session
Children and Families (15 minutes)
An embodiment of Emirati values and heritage, AlAyyala involves male performers holding thin bamboo canes and moving to the rhythm of drums. After the performance take part in a 15 minute interactive session to discover more about the cultural practice.
Storytellers Inside the Exhibition
Children and Families (15 minutes)
Listen to tales from the travelers on the Roads of Arabia inside the exhibition.
Pop up Architecture Under the Dome
Children and Families (45 minutes)
Discover the geometric shapes in the Louvre Abu Dhabi dome and construct your own 3D shapes inspired by ancient Islamic patterns.

EXHIBITION FILM SCREENINGS
Roads of Arabia free Saturday film screeningseries, curated by Emirati artist Hind Mezaina, running from 19 January to 2 February 2019.
Inspired by the ongoing exhibition, Roads of Arabia: Archaeological Treasures of Saudi Arabia, the film series explores the Arabian Peninsula’s past and present through three films Desert Seas (2011), Nearby Sky (2014) and Theeb (2014).
Admissions to the screenings are free.

All film screenings will take place at the Louvre Abu Dhabi Auditorium.

Roads of Arabia Tour

Visitors can book a Roads of Arabia guided exhibition tour and explore the archaeological artworks and masterpieces illustrating an unprecedented panorama of different cultures that occupied the Arabian Peninsula from prehistory to the modern era.
Price of the tour is AED 52.20 per person.

EXHIBITION TALK
The Marawah Vase: Archaeological Discovery of the Arabian Gulf

Aa part of the Roads of Arabia exhibition, Dr Mark Beech will be giving a talk on the journey of a vase from Southern Mesopotamia (modern Iraq) that was finally unearthed in one of the oldest villages discovered in the UAE.
What was the vase used for? How did it arrive here? What was life like at that time in the region?
Dr Mark Beech is Head of Archaeology for the AL Dhafra and Abu Dhabi Capital Area regions in the Historic Department at the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi)

POP-UP EVENTS
Manga Lab
Louvre Abu Dhabi’s first space for teenagers and young adults, dedicated to Japanese Culture and popular Manga art, has been extended to the 14 April.
The Manga Lab offers an Expression Wall for guests to colour in; Retro Arcade Games; Chillout and reading area inspired by Manga Cafes; and virtual reality pods that bring Louvre Abu Dhabi’s collection of Japanese prints to life.
Admissions is included as part of the museum general admission ticket. Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Club Members enter for free.

Animal Kingdoms tour*
Every Tuesday at 3:30pm and every Friday and Saturday at 11:30am
Families
Discover the stories and meaning of animals   in eastern and western cultures hidden in the artworks of the permanent collection and inside the Children’s Museum.
Price per ticket is AED 42 for Adults and AED 31.50 for youth below age 22 and Art Club members.
 
Behind the Mask tour and workshop*
Every Friday at 4pm
Children age 8 – 12 years
45 minute tour of galleries and 45 minutes workshop
Discover how human and animal forms shaped the design of spectacular masks. Back in the workshop, create a mask using an assortment of 3D materials.
Price per ticket is AED 84 for Adults and AED 52.50 for youth below age 22 and Art Club members.
 
Architecture: Inside Out*
Every Saturday at 3pm
Children age 8 – 12 years
45 minute tour of galleries and 45 minutes workshop
Under the dome, children discover and observe the complex geometric shapes of Jean Nouvel’s modern interpretation of the traditional dome. In the studio, children work together to create a large-scale model.
Price per ticket is AED 84 for Adults and AED 52.50 for youth below age 22 and Art Club members.
 
Animal Footprints workshop*
Every Thursday at 4pm
Families with children 4+
Follow the footprints of the animals in the Children’s Museum exhibition and discover the meaning of animals and their representation in art.
