Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), the Abu Dhabi Science Festival (ADSF) 2019 is hosting the 5th edition of Innovator 2019 where 200 innovators aged 13 and above are showcasing 100 creative ideas at A’l Bahar, Abu Dhabi Corniche, until February 9th.
Innovator 2019 is one of the main attractions at the ADSF 2019, where visitors will have the opportunity to learn about pioneering and innovative projects developed to serve the community. Participants will showcase their unique projects in the categories of Art and Design, Sustainability and Life Science, Aerospace, Automotive, Mechanics, Digital Fabrication, as well as Robotics and Electronics.
Innovator 2019 is a key platform for innovators which celebrates creative ideas and projects. It offers an opportunity for talented visionaries from the UAE community to highlight their unique talents and creations, which contributes to the establishment of a culture of innovation in the nation, in line with the UAE’s National Innovation Strategy to position the state as one of the most innovative nations in the world.
The initiative attracts those of common interest to communicate and share their inventions and innovations to the wider community. Participants will showcase their talents and inspirational ideas, which will then be assessed according to quality, originality, innovation, and social impact criteria’s by a judging panel and the top six projects will be honored by ADEK.
Among the projects which are being presented is the ‘Robot & Yolla’ dance, which contributes to promoting the UAE heritage using technology and robots. There is also a project called ‘Smart Helmet’ that helps to relieve headaches, tension, increase concentration, while keeping the head and circulatory system running smoothly.
‘Munjed’ is one of the innovative projects that aims at saving human lives and properties through reducing the percentage of deaths and fire accidents caused by electric plugs. The project is made of heat, humidity and light sensors that cut power off immediately in case of a defect caused by heat, humidity or light.
Among the many projects, there is one that preserves the environment and sustainability, the ‘OHFORA Recycle Paper to 3D’ project. This project aims to recycle paper at workplaces and homes to provide raw material from which 3D shapes can be created.
Participants expressed their gratitude for Innovator 2019, as they thanked ADEK for offering them with the opportunity to partake and present their innovations and creations to the community. Innovators also confirmed that such initiatives contribute to creating a conducive environment to work, innovate and excel.
Since the 31st January and until the 9th February 2019, visits are being organized for schools from 9am to 1pm, and for the general public from 4pm to 10pm. During the weekends, it will be open from 2pm to 10pm.
