- Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi: Photography has offered human perceptions a new vocabulary
- 4-Day event to celebrate four themes of Art, Adventure, Life and Emotions
The 4th edition of the highly anticipated Xposure International Photography Festival will open its doors to shutterbugs and photography enthusiasts on September 19-22, announced the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB).
The four-day international festival will bring together the photography world’s most sought-after contemporaries at Expo Centre Sharjah. Following the resounding success of Xposure’s third edition, the organisers are introducing a new dimension to the event to boost interest and appeal. The festival will showcase four major themes to enrich visitor experiences through unique sensory journeys.
This theme will bring to focus photographers’ journeys undertaken in search of new topics to base their works on; their hunt for unique subjects and adventures never captured by a camera lens before, offering visitors an opportunity to delve into new artistic territory through these works.
The theme is dedicated to showcasing photography’s ability to express human emotions in the most fascinating ways. The exhibit will be a mosaic of emotions and personal stories, offering viewers a chance to zoom in to the finer details of human expression.
The theme will be represented by a curation of a diversity of arts, sculpture and amazing architectural designs captured on camera in the most avant garde ways by top photographers from around the world. The beauty of the subject against the artist’s perspective will be something to watch out for here.
The theme covers a wide spectrum of humanitarian issues, the challenges associated with conflicts and wars, and from astonishing events to the seemingly mundane moments. Xposure visitors can expect to gain rare insights into how and why the vivid spectrum of existence has remained a photographer’s muse since time immemorial.
Xposure’s hugely popular outdoor exhibitions will open across major locations in both Sharjah and Dubai starting September 10.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi: Photography has offered human perception a new vocabulary
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Council (SMC), has reiterated that photography as an art form and a language of expression has gained significant prominence in our digitally driven world. “The upcoming edition of Xposure will continue on its path, shining the spotlight on established and emerging talents”, he said, affirming the four-day festival will be one of most memorable celebrations on UAE’s cultural calendar this year.
“Photography has presented human perception with a new vocabulary, and keeps adding to it. A photographer’s artistic prowess in capturing unique moments and immortalising them for future generations, must be offered a befitting platform to be showcased and celebrated. Photographs offer us a window into the history of civilisations and peoples; they take us to places we’ve never been before, exposing us to the troubling hardships faced by mankind, and at the same time, to the most beautiful moments in life.
“Every photograph has a message. They put forth ideas, they ask questions and present solutions. Exceptional pictures bridge cultures and give us the opportunity to exchange ideas, expertise and share strong humanitarian messages,” he added.
